31 July 1918: The "Wabash" Field Code was issued.
Wabash is one of a half dozen of the "River" codes, and another eight codes in the "Lake" series followed shortly after. These 14 codes were produced over five months. All copies were serialized and accounted for with no copies lost, indicating a secure chain of custody.
