2024 NCF End of Year Appeal
Dear NCF Members, Donors, Partners, & Friends,
As we approach the end of another successful year, we’re filled with gratitude for your continued support of the National Cryptologic Foundation (NCF). Your generosity has been vital to our mission, enabling us to build cyber literacy and security awareness in schools across the nation.
We’re excited to share our vision for the coming year, as we aim to deepen our impact through two education initiatives: the NCF Ambassador Program and Cyber Saturday. Each program brings the critical concepts of cybersecurity to students in ways that are engaging, hands-on, and inspiring.
The NCF Ambassador Program empowers students, educators, and schools to embrace data care awareness, cyber hygiene, and responsible digital citizenship. Currently, the Ambassador program is in six schools in MA, MD, and NC.
After completing the eight-week program with a trained teacher, these hardworking students are celebrated in a special ceremony to acknowledge their dedication to protecting data and learning basic cybersecurity principles.
“The curriculum provided by NCF has also empowered educators and parents to effectively teach digital citizenship, ensuring that students are well-equipped to navigate the complex digital landscape responsibly. This collaboration has not only improved students' technical skills but also instilled a sense of vigilance and ethical behavior in their online interactions.” shared by Mr. Derrick Harrell, STEAM Instructor & NCF Ambassador Educator
This year, our goal is to add 10 new schools to the program, a step that will help students nationwide develop skills that are crucial for their futures. Each school requires $5,000 to fund the training, materials, and support needed to make this program effective.
Cyber Saturday offers students a unique, hands-on opportunity to dive into cybersecurity. Through practical exercises that challenge their critical thinking and problem-solving skills, students gain insight into the rapidly growing field of cybersecurity.
This year, Cyber Saturday took place on May 4 at the Technology Advancement Center (TAC), in Columbia, Maryland. The day buzzed with energy as attendees engaged in hands-on workshops, expert insights, and vital discussions on internet safety. From MetaCTF Challenges to our Escape Room and the popular game Among Us, students experienced firsthand the importance of online safety. The highlight was a captivating robotics class, designed to offer fresh insights beyond the traditional curriculum.
Our goal is to raise $50,000 to fund Cyber Saturday events, covering logistics, materials, and expert facilitators who bring the curriculum to life.
Our end-of-year appeal goal is to raise $100,000 to support our education team and the programs they are implementing. Your support will allow us to expand these impactful programs, preparing a generation of students for the workforce of tomorrow. We invite you to join us in advancing this vision by making a year-end gift to NCF. Together, we can build a future where our youth are equipped to protect and defend in a digital world.
Thank you for your generosity and dedication to this mission. We couldn’t do this work without you.
With gratitude,
Laura Nelson
NCF President & CEO
