NCF Education Coordinator Jennifer Langdon and NCF Communications & Marketing Director Christine Harding attended the Maryland School Counselor Association Conference (MSCA) on March 20 & 21, 2022 at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay in Cambridge, MD.
The annual two-day conference provides professional development workshops and training sessions on a wide range of topics that school counselors deal with on a daily basis.
The NCF sponsored the President’s Reception, during which Ms. Langdon, who is also a former middle school teacher, spoke to conference attendees. She shared that students, parents, and educators may be unaware and/or under-informed about the potential negative consequences of their actions in the digital world. She encouraged educators & counselors to seek out and embrace more information about cybersecurity to help stimulate student interest in cybersecurity fields of study and/or work.
As a sponsor, the NCF was also an exhibitor, offering conference attendees an opportunity to become more familiar with the NCF's cyber education program and resources. Following Ms. Langdon’s remarks, school counselors swarmed the NCF booth, requesting program information, and inviting the Foundation to speak either in person or virtually to their school.
Attending this conference expanded the Foundation’s outreach not only to counselors, but also to elementary school educators. We look forward to future opportunities to share resources and build lasting relationships with educators and counselors.
