Tommy Charles, Chief Cryptographer and Distinguished Technologist HP Inc.

Mr. Charles is the Chief Cryptographer at HP Security Lab, responsible for cryptography engineering governance and cryptography technology strategy across HP. Prior to joining HP in 2022, Tommy worked for 20 years as a cryptographer in the UK National Cyber Security Centre and its predecessor organization CESG, initially undertaking research and later becoming a research leader and technical director. As a Research Technical Director, he led progress on a complex research programme and improved culture and impact. As Technical Director for International Standards, he led a team across internet, mobile, and cryptography standards, with which he helped increase the prominence of standards in UK national strategy.
