Wayne Edward Stoffel, 87, was born on November 11, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio. Wayne passed away on November 26, 2015.
Wayne was an Army veteran who proudly served his country. Following the Army, he worked for the National Security Agency for 40 years. He was one of the founders of the modern discipline of TA, and the value it has had in producing intelligence information is in large part due to his vision and his efforts.
He served as Clerk of Session for the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Annapolis MD, and as Registrar of the Institute of Biblical Studies, Annapolis MD. He was later Station Manager of WOTL, Toledo OH, and volunteered in various roles for Wycliffe Bible Translators. Wayne was an alumnus of Johns Hopkins University.
Wayne was a loving father and a brave man. He was our father in the faith, a peacemaker, and a tireless provider. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Alura; his son Edward and wife Charlene and their children Darcy, Grant and Brooke; his daughter Lisa and her husband Richard and their children Rachel, Levi and Hunter; his daughter Carol and her husband Michael and their children Erica, Lexie, Kyle, Analisa, Michaela; Grant’s wife Tiffany; Darcy’s daughter Heidi; Brooke’s husband Jeffrey; Rachel’s husband Wesley and their children Madeline, Ayden, Tilden and Elowen; Levi and his wife Casey. Wayne was preceded in death by his son David, and his parents.
A memorial service for Wayne Stoffel was held in Winchester, VA. He was buried at Arlington National Cemetery in March 2016.
