Hazel Estelle Lilley Haynes Heishman, 95, died Monday, October 4, 2010 at Laurel Regional Hospital. She was born December 9, 1914 in Baltimore, MD. She was the daughter of the late Laura (Adreon) Lilley and William Henry Lilley.
Hazel lived in Savage, MD for the best part of her life; was a graduate of Strayers Business College; worked at Montgomery Ward mail house; telephone operator at Ft. Meade during World War II; Map Library at Dept. of Public Roads in Washington, DC; National Security Agency of Ft. Meade, MD (she retired from A5 in 1973 with 25 years of service) and was the first office manager for The Phoenix Society.
Hazel also traveled quite a bit, taking groups of people on trips to different states, Canada, Mexico, and quite a few countries overseas, plus islands in the Caribbean and Alaska. She was president of the now defunct organization of the Daughters of America, belonged to Laurel Senior Citizens, president of Senior Citizens of Savage and Columbia, secretary of Savage Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of Savage Baptist Church.
She was the wife of the late James E. Haynes; mother of James Donald (Jacqueline) Haynes and the late Ronald Cameron; grandmother of Kevin Haynes, Krista (Tim) Capurso, and Andrew (Jacki) Haynes; step-grandmother of Bernadette Wilson and the late Bryan Ecker. Also survived by 5 great-grandchildren.
