Robert "Bob" Eustice

Robert "Bob" William Eustice, a longtime resident of Lanham, Maryland passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at the age of 92. The son of William and Irma Eustice, Bob was born on September 1, 1932, in Elizabeth, Illinois. He grew up in a rural community in northern Illinois.

Bob served in the U.S. Navy during the years from 1952 to 1956 as a Communications Technician in the Naval Security Group with assignments at the Naval Security Station, Washington D.C., and Naval Communication Station, Guam, M.I. He was discharged with the rank of Petty officer First Calss. He went on to attend the University of Illinois and received a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering in 1960. Bob retired from the National Security Agency in 1988 with 28 years of service in the Research & Engineering Group as an Electronic Engineer and System Acquisition Manager. He was subsequently employed by Ideas, Inc., and Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) until retirement in 1998.

Bob enjoyed sports and was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Wizards. For many years, he was an active participant in the Agency softball and bowling leagues. He coached youth teams in the Lanham Boys & Girls Club. He found pleasure in lawn work and listening to Dixieland Jazz and big band music. He also kept the bird and squirrel populations of Woodlark Community well-nourished. Bob greatly enjoyed the family vacations in Rehoboth, Delaware, and Caribbean and Alaska cruises. Later in life, he became interested in collecting and displaying the Department 56 miniature villages. For 14 years, Bob served as President of "The Annapolis Villagers," a Department 56 Collectors Club. He created numerous village displays and many were winning entries in display contests at Department 56 gatherings throughout the country. He was a member of the American Legion Post 175 in Severna Park, MD, the National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), and the National Cryptologic Foundation (NCF).

Bob is survived by his wife, Kathryn, daughters Julia Massey (husband Wade) of Wake Forest, North Carolina and Stacy Humphreys (husband Buddy) of Owings Mills, Maryland. He is also survived by four grandchildren (Denver and Raina Massey and Camden and Kaylie Humphreys). He was predeceased by his brother Richard "Dick" Eustice.

A private inurnment service will be held at a local Veteran Cemetery
