The NCF remembers long-time Foundation member Peggy Ann Strader. Peggy passed away on April 19, 2024 at the age of 79. Her obituary is provided below.
Peggy was born on November 24, 1944 in Cincinnati Ohio to Aurelia and Ray Grindrod. Peggy grew up in Cincinnati and moved to Maryland in 1963 to pursue her education and career.
Peggy graduated from the University of Maryland College Park in 1967 and began working for the National Security Agency shortly after.
Peggy worked for the National Security Agency from 1968 to 2003 as a computer analyst. That is where she met the love of her life, Lewis Strader, whom she married in 1974. They lived in Severna Park, Greenbelt, and Millersville, Maryland before settling in Annapolis.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 49 years Lewis Strader of Annapolis, MD; her sisters Mary Jo Anderson of Annapolis, MD, Carolyn Renz of Annapolis, MD, and Karen Wilson of Vero Beach FL; her brother Dale Grindrod of San Juan Bautista, CA; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Christopher Lewis Strader, her brother Raymond Grindrod, and her parents Aurelia and Ray Grindrod.
Peggy loved family, traveling, good food, good wine, and good friends. She was a long-standing member of the Phoenix Society.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday June 4th at 10:00am at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Hwy Severna Park MD 21146. Following the mass, she will be laid to rest with her son at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Rd Crownsville MD, 21032
