#CyberChats Podcast Season 3, Episode 5: Breaking barriers for women in cybersecurity and pageantry with Himanvi Panidepu, Miss Virginia USA.
Ms. Himanvi Panidepu
Himanvi Panidepu was crowned as Miss Virginia USA during summer 2024 and had the honor of placing in the Top 10 at Miss USA. She is a Cum Laude, dual degree and minor graduate from Virginia Tech. As an athlete, artist, advocate, and model, she is also a trailblazer in cybersecurity and a proud Indian American, exemplifying the power of breaking barriers and embracing diverse talents. Her journey began with a challenge: navigating an industry where women are vastly underrepresented. Undeterred, she turned this challenge into a catalyst for change, leading initiatives like her company's Women in Tech program and founding her initiative, STEMpowered Leaders. Her initiative is aimed to inspire and mentor the next generation to explore their passions and shape their futures in STEM fields by fostering mentorship programs and workshops in collaboration with various nonprofits throughout the state.
As the first Indian American to win the Miss Virginia USA and Miss Virginia Teen USA titles, she has used her platform for advocacy and community engagement, proving that it's possible to honor one's heritage while forging new paths. With a deep connection to her cultural heritage, she has dedicated 15 years to mastering Indian classical singing and dance, celebrating her roots and sharing her art with others. She hopes to continue shaping a community where everyone feels encouraged to follow their passions without being held back by stereotypes, a place where being true to oneself is celebrated, and all dreams are given the opportunity to grow and succeed.
