Gregg Smith is the current Chief Executive Officer of the Technology Advancement Center where the organization supports the Department of Defense with cybersecurity needs across workforce development, innovation and tech scouting. He was the Chief Executive Officer of Attila Security and Archon Secure. Both companies were cybersecurity companies focused on DoD and other government agencies. Over his career, Mr. Smith has provided outstanding returns for his investors and has 10 exits with transactions totaling well over seven hundred and fifty million dollars.

Prior to creating Attila Security from a product line incubated within Silent Circle, Mr. Smith was CEO of Silent Circle, bringing more than 25 years of technology and executive business leadership experience to the growing provider of mobile security solutions. At Silent Circle, Mr. Smith led the overall strategic direction of the company, led a global reorganization and the successful exit of Silent Circle’s phone and application business.

Mr. Smith also was CEO of both Koolspan and Optio Labs. Both cyber security companies focused on Mobile Security. Mr. Smith led the overall strategic direction of the company to triple digit year over year growth, with an emphasis on sales, organizational development, and worldwide partnerships.

Prior to Koolspan, Mr. Smith served as CEO of Acuity Mobile, where he grew the mobile marketing firm from a start-up to an industry leader. He won contracts with a variety of national brands and successfully negotiated the sale of Acuity to NAVTEQ, a billion dollar division of Nokia.

Mr. Smith has also served as President of Aether’s (NASDAQ: AETH) Enterprise Division, the early leader in providing mobile solutions to the enterprise, where under his leadership revenue surged to $115 million from $3 million, and then was sold to TeleCommunication Systems (NASDAQ: TSYS); Mr. Smith also served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Karch International, a software provider; and Vice President of Nurad Technologies, a wireless hardware and product manufacturer.

Throughout his career, Mr. Smith has also created and invested in numerous technology start-ups, including a mobile messaging and storage platform. A graduate of St. Mary’s College of Maryland, Mr. Smith serves as a board member of several private companies, is the former Chairman of the Cyber Association of Maryland and current member of Maryland’s Cyber Workforce Board and Maryland’s Cyber Trust Board.
