Chat Description: During this NCF #CyberChats session - Dr. Eugene Spafford, originator of the Center for Education and Research in Information Assurance and Security (CERIAS), shares his insights into the critical nature of cybersecurity education and the need to go beyond the technical and embrace the diverse disciplines required to address information assurance, security, and privacy for the state, the nation, and the world.
For over 20 years, Purdue University has approached the subject of Cybersecurity as an interdisciplinary degree. CERIAS was established to advance the knowledge and practice of information assurance, security, and privacy through discovery, education, and engagement. It is unique among such national centers in its multidisciplinary approach to the problems, ranging from purely technical issues (e.g., intrusion detection, network security, etc) to ethical, legal, educational, communicational, linguistic, and economic issues, and the subtle interactions and dependencies among them.
