July 24–25, 2025, I had the privilege of attending the 2025 Virginia Cybersecurity Education Conference—a powerful gathering of educators, industry professionals, and thought leaders focused on building a cyber-ready generation.
As the Director of Education at the National Cryptologic Foundation, I left both inspired and challenged. Sessions emphasized the urgent need for cyber literacy, real-world classroom tools, and strong partnerships to guide students toward digital awareness and cybersecurity careers.
Three key takeaways stood out:
- Teachers need resources—engaging, hands-on, and ready to implement.
- Collaboration is critical—between schools, industry, and nonprofits.
- Representation matters—diverse voices in cyber education inspire the next generation.
Cyber education goes beyond tech skills—it builds ethical reasoning, critical thinking, and digital citizenship. Thank you to the organizers and every educator who continues to lead this essential work. You are the cyber frontline.
