Richard "Dick" Minor Mowbray, 85, of Bowie, MD, loving husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather, died March 1, 2011. Dick was born July 14, 1925 in Highland Park, Michigan, the only child of Julia and John Minor Mowbray.
After serving in the China Burma India theater in World War II, he reenlisted in the US Army, retiring as a Major in 1965. He was then employed by the National Security Agency, retiring from A2 in 1992 with 55 years of total service. Dick started and maintained the Phoenix Society obituary list for 30 years from 1980 to 2010.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary; three sons, John, James and Thomas; four daughters, Virginia, Margaret, Mary Catherine and Patricia; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He volunteered with the Boy Scouts, Phoenix Society, and several veterans' and retiree groups. He has willed his body to medical science.
