Charles H. Hiser passed away on August 28, 1988 at the age of 72. COL Hiser, an Ohio native, joined the Army in 1937 and came to the Washington area in 1941. He served in Europe during WWII and in Japan and Korea during the Korean War.
Prior to a field assignment in Europe with NSA, he was commandant of the Army Security Agency training center and school at Ft. Devens, MA, from 1958 to 1960. Following his retirement he served as a consultant to various companies.
A recipient of the Legion of Merit, COL Hiser was a member of the Association of Former Intelligence Officers and of the Phoenix Society.
He was surved by his wife, Sue, a son, daughter, and four grandchildren.
