US wants to return codebreaker Alan Turing’s seized items to UK school

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security in Denver, Colorado now has custody of codebreaker Alan Turing's prized possessions - such as his PhD from Princeton University, his Order of the British Empire medal, and other mementos that were stolen from the Sherborne School in England by a woman later claiming to be his daughter. The woman had visited the school in 1984 and asked to see a collection of his memorabilia as part of research she was conducting. After she left, the box of items was empty with the exception of a note of apology.

The U.S. is taking the necessary legal steps to return the Turing memorabilia to the Sherborne School.
