2020 End of Year Message

December 2020

Dear Members & Friends,

I am excited to share that we have made significant progress in our effort to build the Cyber Center for Education & Innovation (CCEI), the new home for the National Cryptologic Museum (NCM). The positive transition from a dream to reality is just a heartbeat away, and we are thrilled for your consideration in joining our journey by making an end-of-year donation to the campaign.

The CCEI will become a cross-sector enterprise, delivering programs to encourage government, industry, and academia to share insights, knowledge, and resources to strengthen cybersecurity protection and workforce development. In addition to being the new home of the world-class NCM, this state-of-the-art facility (to be built behind the current museum) will include a research and rare books library, a conference center, and will feature the return of Vigilance Park.

Currently, the K-12 educational community is the target of our Education Program. The desired benefit of a focus on cybersecurity content is to pique K-12 students’ interest in these fields so they will consider pursuing related cybersecurity practitioner majors and enter the workforce to defend and preserve our way of life. The reality is that we are dangerously insecure in cyber. Our lives, including among other things, paycheck, healthcare, and electricity, increasingly rely on networks of digital devices that store and analyze data. We must recruit, develop, and retain a stronger federal and corporate cyber workforce. The key to that effort is improving cyber-oriented education. Our Education Program quickly adapted to the need for online learning resulting from the pandemic, and is bringing virtual cybersecurity content right into the K-12 classroom to begin building that future workforce.

After retiring from NSA as a Senior Executive, I was hired as the President and first Chief Executive Officer of the NCMF. It is my honor to serve as the leader of the Foundation as we get ready to grab our shovels and break ground. If you are in a position to give, your contribution will be a part of a movement to educate the nation’s brightest minds, stimulate public engagement by creating a dialogue on cyber policy, and commemorate those who have served with valor and distinction.

I hope you will include the NCMF in your end-of-year philanthropy, and consider us for continuous support in your annual giving. In doing so, you will be helping this vision become a reality. Also, please continue to monitor our website (cryptologicfoundation.org) as we offer sponsorship and commemoration opportunities upon entering the public phase of our campaign. If you are not receiving our periodic e-newsletters, please susbscribe today to get the latest news & event information.

Very best regards,

Laura Nelson
