Event Recap
On Saturday, October 25th, 2025, 16 young STEMologists completed the Great Escape Cyber Challenge, putting their cybersecurity skills and smarts to the test. Each STEMologist completed the National Cryptologic Foundation’s Outsmart Cyberthreats curriculum, played the NCF’s Amanita Whitehat online cyber games, built a Cipher Wheel, and tested their intelligence against the NCF’s very own hacker, Mr. Darnell Washington, via Kahoot.
After escaping an Escape Room designed by Sara Baffour, the Program Director at The Center for STEM Excellence, students enjoyed lunch before the awards ceremony. Each student received an NCF Student Ambassador certificate, pin, pencil, and a t-shirt honoring their milestone and attended a presentation with Mr. Darnell Washington on cybersecurity careers and pathways.
