Dr. Shannon Beck is the Director of the Virginia Cyber Range and the U.S. Cyber Range of Virginia Tech, where she leads initiatives that expand access to hands-on cybersecurity education, workforce development, and cyber training infrastructure for K–12 schools, higher education, government, and industry partners.
Dr. Beck brings extensive experience in cybersecurity education, research, and outreach from previous roles as an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer and Cyber Sciences at the United States Air Force Academy, Program Coordinator for the National Science Foundation’s Secure and Trustworthy Cyberspace (SaTC) program, and scientist and member of the cybersecurity incident response team at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Throughout her career, Dr. Beck has contributed to national efforts in cybersecurity curriculum development, teacher professional development, and broadening participation in cybersecurity education. She is passionate about building pathways that prepare learners of all ages for success in the cybersecurity workforce.
