On Friday June 5th, 2026, NCF Education Director Dr. Alisha Jordan and Mr. Darnell Washington (Education Program consultant) had the opportunity to engage more than 120 students at Robert Frost Middle School (Rockville, MD) in an interactive cybersecurity and artificial intelligence awareness session.
Students explored the fascinating history of the Enigma machine and cryptology while learning about modern cybersecurity concepts, including data privacy, encoding, ethical hacking, and the differences between Black Hat and White Hat hackers. The session also introduced students to a variety of cybersecurity and AI career pathways, helping them understand the growing opportunities available in these high-demand fields.
Throughout the presentation, students were highly engaged, asked thoughtful questions, and demonstrated genuine excitement about cybersecurity, technology, and artificial intelligence. Their enthusiasm highlighted the importance of exposing middle school students to emerging technologies and career opportunities early in their educational journey.
A special thank you to Mr. Daniel Rose, former National Cryptologic Foundation Teacher of the Year, for the invitation and for his continued commitment to providing meaningful STEM and cybersecurity learning experiences for students.
The National Cryptologic Foundation appreciates the opportunity to inspire the next generation of cyber professionals and looks forward to future collaborations with Robert Frost Middle School.
