History of the
Crypto Cup
In June 2002 Eagle Alliance sponsored its first golf tournament to benefit the Foundation (then the NCMF). The annual tournament was dedicated to the memory of Tim Sheahan, Eagle Alliance’s first Account Executive and a key contributor to the award and success of the GROUNDBREAKER Program.
The 24th annual tournament was held in October 2025, and the tournaments have cumulatively provided over $865,000 to support initiatives of the NCF. Without the annual contribution from this tournament, there are years when the Foundation would have found it challenging to meet its obligations regarding support to the National Cryptologic Museum (NCM).
Starting in 2025, the tournament will be hosted by General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT).
Over the years, the tournament’s features expanded to include – the popular Spy Hole, a Mega-Putt contest, a “Beat the Pro” hole, a Hot Shot Golf Ball Cannon, and a “Hole in Two” contest! The winning team each year has their names inscribed on a plaque, and they are “presented” the CRYPTO CUP trophy, which is kept on display at the NCM.
Stay tuned for next year!
The annual Crypto Cup Golf Tournament provides support each year for the National Cryptologic Foundation and is always a great success.
The 25th Annual Crypto Cup Golf Tournament information will be announced soon! Please stay tuned for more information.
Program Overview
The Crypto Cup is the NCF signature fundraising golf tournament, bringing together cybersecurity professionals, government leaders, corporate partners, and supporters for a day of camaraderie and purpose. The event fuels the NCF mission to educate, connect, and build a more resilient digital future.
More than just a round of golf, the Crypto Cup strengthens ties across the cyber community. Participants enjoy friendly competition on the course while supporting critical programs in cyber education and workforce development. Sponsorship opportunities offer organizations visibility among mission-aligned leaders and changemakers.
Funds raised directly support the NCF work in classrooms and beyond—from mentorship programs and student competitions to strategic convenings and thought leadership. Whether you’re swinging for the win or showing up in support, every stroke helps build momentum for the next generation of defenders.
