On Sunday, March 29, 2026, the National Cryptologic Foundation (NCF) proudly partnered with the Maryland STEM Festival to support approximately 80 Girl Scouts in earning their Junior Cybersecurity badge.
Led by CEO Laura Nelson, NCF Director of Education Dr. Alisha Jordan, and Director of Communications Christine Harding, the NCF team worked directly with Junior Girl Scouts to bring cybersecurity concepts to life in an engaging and meaningful way.
Throughout the session, the team guided scouts through foundational cybersecurity concepts using the Junior Cybersecurity packet . The girls explored key topics such as how computers communicate, what cybersecurity means, and why protecting information is important. Activities focused on helping students define and understand essential cybersecurity terms, making complex ideas accessible and age-appropriate.
The experience emphasized that cybersecurity is not just about technology—it’s about awareness, problem-solving, and responsibility. The scouts were actively engaged, asking thoughtful questions and participating in hands-on learning that sparked curiosity and confidence.
Most importantly, the event created a space where young girls could see themselves in cybersecurity. By introducing these concepts early, NCF continues to build a strong foundation for future leaders in the field.
It was truly a fun, interactive, and impactful day—one that reflects NCF’s commitment to expanding access to cybersecurity education and inspiring the next generation.
