Event Recap
The 14th Annual Crypto Cup Golf Tournament was held on Friday, May 15, 2015.
Tournament day turned out to be a gorgeous, sunny day with temperatures in the high 70s. The 14th Annual Eagle Alliance CryptoCup began with registration and breakfast at 7:30 a.m. and a Shotgun Start and Tee-Off (many dressed as spies! – see below) at 8:30 a.m. After 18 holes of play, everyone gathered for a country buffet lunch and awards. There were 140 players who gathered at the Patuxent Greens Golf Course, in Laurel, MD, to enjoy a day of fun and friendly competition. Volunteers distributed goodie bags, manned two beverage stations, and photographed the event.
This year’s tournament featured a “Spy Tee-Off” fundraiser which many enjoyed. Many golfers and even some folks who simply came out to support the event, made a contribution and put on a disguise for the tee-off. We still knew who they were, especially by their golf swing! The Luncheon and Awards Banquet included a check presentation from Mike Miller, head of Client Relations for Eagle Alliance to NCMF President Dick Schaeffer for $38,000 in tournament funds. The team from Superior Communications Inc. received the First Place award. The second an third place teams, as well as additional contest winners were also presented with awards. ADDITIONAL RECOGNITION CEREMONY at the NATIONAL CRYPTOLOGIC MUSEUM
Later in the year – the NCMF hosted a special lunch and award/recognition ceremony at the National Cryptologic Museum to recognize all of the dedicated tournament volunteers and to present an official award to the First Place team from SCI. Photos are included below.
We cannot adequately express our gratitude to Eagle Alliance for their continued support. The annual CryptoCup golf tournament has proven to be a vital fundraiser for the Foundation and helps make it possible for us to continue supporting the efforts of the National Cryptologic Museum.

In June 2002 Eagle Alliance sponsored its first golf tournament to benefit the Foundation (then the NCMF). The annual tournament was dedicated to the memory of Tim Sheahan, Eagle Alliance’s first Account Executive and a key contributor to the award and success of the GROUNDBREAKER Program. Without the annual contribution from this tournament, there are years when the Foundation would have found it challenging to meet its obligations regarding support to the National Cryptologic Museum (NCM).
Starting in 2025, the tournament is hosted by General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT).
