James David Jankowski, age 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones, at his home in Queen Anne, MD, on February 6, 2026. James was born in Manistee, Michigan on the 17th of November 1938. Son of Walter and Mabel (Pearce) Jankowski.
He was a graduate of Saint Joseph Catholic high school in Manistee, class of 1956. He graduated from Michigan Technological University in 1960, with a degree in mathematics.
James joined the US Army and later worked for the government doing computer security work. He married Judith (Frank) Winfield in Yorkshire, England in February 1972.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Judith; children, Steven Winfield, Alison (Winfield) Russ, Helen (Jankowski) and Dan Fury, all of Maryland. Son, Jamie and Marisol Jankowski, of the Philippines. Also survived by brother Ray Jankowski, sister Nancy (Jankowski) and Tony Adamczak, as well as eight grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation and a memorial service for James was held on Friday, February 13, 2026 at the Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newman funeral home (408 S. Liberty St., Centreville MD 21617).
