1. Image Preparation
Using the image editor of your choice (Photoshop, Canva, Gimp, etc.) open the image to resize the image to be 1800px on the longest side at 144ppi. If you have the option for save quality, choose Medium or 50%.
Example below is using Photoshop.
Open the image in the editor of your choice. Set the image size to be 1800px on the longest side at 144ppi.
Rename the file using the Event Type and event date (ex. Cyber_Saturday_20260307-1) so they are easily searchable in the Media Library. Save the image as a JPEG.
Save the file at 50% or Medium quality.
2. Add image(s) to Media Library
- Open the Media Library in the WordPress dashboard.
- Click on the Appropriate Folder for the type of event (important to click on this first so the sub folder ends up in the right place)
- Click on the Add New Folder button at the top.
- Add the new sub folder using the date of the event (ex. 2026 03 07)
Drag and drop the images into the library.
3. Add Captions to Gallery Images
In order to have the captions show up on hover in the photo gallery, you will need to add the captions in the Media Library.
Click on one of the images in the folder. This will bring up fields to the right (or bottom depending on your browser window) that you can fill in. The field for “Caption” is what will show up on hover in the photo gallery.
Using the back and forward arrows, add captions to the remaining images.
4. Updating Event fields and Tags
By default, any NCF Event with a date that has passed, will automatically be given the NCF Event Tag “Past Event”. With this tag, there are several elements on the page that will change or no longer be visible:
- The Register Now and Sponsor This Event buttons will no longer be visible on the front end.
- The entire Register and Sponsorship Opportunities sections will no long be visible on the front end. They will still be there in the back end — feel free to leave them where they are (if you want to keep that content), or delete them altogether.
- The Agenda will switch to a collapsed toggles with the option to expand. You don’t need to make any changes, this will happen automatically base on the Past Event tag.
- The “Sponsor this Event” button in the Sponsors section will be replaced with the notice “Interested in sponsoring a future event…?” Again, you don’t need to make any changes, this will happen automatically based on the Past Event tag.
When you’re ready to add the event recap, add the “Recap” tag. With this additional tag, the main header will change to the Recap Header layout instead.
Update the short description.
Add or update the feature image.
5. Adding Content to Event Recap Section
Add a new section and choose Add from Library. Click on NCF Events and select Event Recap.
In the wireframe view, drag the Overview section to the bottom after the Sponsors section and the Event Recap to the top.
By default, the Event Recap section will have a Text Only section and a Justified Image Gallery section.
Open the text module and replace the placeholder text with your recap text.
Open the Anchor Links module and delete any links that are not required for the event recap.
Open the Photo Gallery Heading Row. Open the External Gallery Link module and update the Shutterfly link or delete the button if you don’t have a gallery to link to.
Open the Justified Gallery module.
Delete the placeholder image.
Click on the plus sign to add images.
Navigate to the folder where you added the images and captions. Click on all the images you want to include in the gallery.
Update the Event.
If you need to add different types of content (quotes, images, link lists, etc.) then refer to HOW TO USE ROW TEMPLATES.
